GRAYWATER IRRIGATION SYSTEM

Set up your system in 3 easy steps

Set up your system in 3 easy steps

*We are gradually transitioning to video / Youtube for all support and training media. We recommend watching these short videos first.

While IrriGRAY is the most advanced graywater, rainwater, condensate and potable water management and irrigation system available, it is very easy to program, even for the the DIY installer.

When first setting up a system, only 3 simple steps are required:

1) Create an Account

2) Complete the "Climate & Water" panel

3) Add irrigation zones via the "Zones" panel

Step 1: Create An Account

DIY installation

1.1 On the home page of www.irrigray.com, click on "Register Now"

1.2 Login with your new account email address and password.

1.3 Click on View SYstems. If this is your first time registering, there will not be any existing Systems.

1.4 Add System, entering information about the location of the system.

1.5 View Programss

Whenever you make changes to system settings, the changes are saved as a new Program version. This means at any time, you (or your landscape maintenance contractor) can revert back to a previous version. This is the same concept as computer system restore points.

If this is your first time, there will not be any Programs available, and a new Program must be added.

Contractor System Installation

If this is your first System installation as a contractor, please contact us to have an account created for you. This mandatory step is required to make sure we can determine if you need assistance - we are happy to help as we want to make the process as easy as possible.

Once your account has been created, you can add as many customers and Systems as necessary.

Step 2: Climate & Water

The Climate & Water Panel contains all global irrigation settings for your location, including climate, water restrictions for dripperline use, potable water sprinklers, and settings for how excess graywater should be managed.

Each IrriGRAY panel has a "Help Desk" side bar, which has detailed instructions for completing the panel.

 Step 3: Setup Zones

Up to 16 Zones can be used by the IrriGRAY system. There are 4 different zone types, each type having its own irrigation settings:

Graywater Dripperline (graywater irrigation of Trees, Shrubs, Plants and Turf)

Graywater Disposal (special zones for disposing of excess graywater instead of diverting excess graywater to septic waste - this reduces septic maintenance costs by keeping graywater out of the septic year round)

Potable Water Sprinklers (advanced sprinkler management for areas that either practically or economically cannot be irrigated with graywater)

Potable Water Dripperline (special dripperline zones that can use only potable water. This is especially applicable to vegetable gardens, where some US states do not allow the use of graywater for food production.

Below is an example of a system with Zones already entered. The zone type is listed as well as zone number and name. Click on the "edit" link to edit a particular zone.

This example shows a graywater dripperline zone. The zone could be changed to a different type by simply clicking on the sub-tabs across the top of the panel.

Because the IrriGRAY system includes a flow sensor / water meter and accurately measures the correct amount of water to each zone throughout the day, you do not need to set and manage run times.

IrriGRAY automatically calculates the correct amount of water, and optimum irrigation timing & management of water required for the current day based on:

Irrigation needs of the specified plant type and planting density.

How much water is required if the zone did not receive water in the past day / days because the zone has been restricted to receive only water on certain days e.g. some plants such as avocado & grapevines grow better with water only 2 days per week, while the vast majority of trees, plants and turf grow much better with small amounts of water every day (contrary to popular belief).

Zone size (surface area in square feet).

Cycling of zones based on zone size & irrigation needs throughout the day, to ensure all zones receive water throughout the day. This means large zones will not consume excess water in the morning when residents take showers, and small zones will not receive a disproportionate amount of water during that time as well.

Adding makeup water (potable water or stored rainwater) when insufficient graywater was produced during the day.

Adding the correct amount of makeup water at the end of the day, if makeup water use was restricted / banned on previous days due to potable water dripperline irrigation rationing (still a rare situation but could become more common).

Applying the correct amount of water for Potable Water Sprinklers based on rationing restrictions, such as days of the month, or maximum inches per month, or a combination of both.
